Margaret Alba, DOM, MLS(ASCP)CM, BB(ASCP)

Margaret Alba, DOM, MLS(ASCP)CM, BB(ASCP) is a educator and clinical laboratory scientist who dedicated over three decades to advancing medical laboratory science and integrative health. Most recently, she served as a faculty member in the Medical Laboratory Sciences Program at the University of New Mexico (UNM) School of Medicine, where she was deeply committed to training future generations of laboratory professionals.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology in 1989 from the University of Texas at El Paso and later obtained her Master of Science in Oriental Medicine in 2000 from the International Institute of Chinese Medicine. Her unique blend of expertise allowed her to work across disciplines in both Western and Eastern medical traditions.

Over her career, Ms. Alba worked extensively in clinical laboratories across Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and Nevada, with specialized experience as a generalist and in blood banking. Alongside her laboratory work, she maintained a private acupuncture and Oriental medicine practice for 18 years, offering holistic care to her community.

Now retired, Margaret Alba leaves behind a legacy of excellence in clinical education, mentorship, and patient-centered care. Her contributions continue to inspire colleagues and students alike.
