We may never meet our patients, but they should always feel our care.
About
Mudathir (pronounced moo-DAHTH-ther) has always been drawn to the science behind the answers. Before entering the clinical laboratory, he worked as a research assistant in virology, contributing to research on HIV-1 and antiviral host defenses, an experience that gave him a deep appreciation for careful, methodical thinking and a habit of asking why, not just how.
After earning his Master of Science in Medical Laboratory Science from LIU Post, he began his clinical laboratory career in 2016. His path reflects a deliberate generalist foundation, spanning hematology, microbiology, and multiple clinical laboratory settings, built on the understanding that broad knowledge and deep expertise are not opposites, but partners in good patient care.
That same spirit carried him through work as a traveling laboratory scientist, where adapting quickly to new environments and earning trust in unfamiliar settings became second nature. Each stop brought different patients, different teams, and the same reminder: the result at the end of the process belongs to a real person. Today, Mudathir is completing his doctoral residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, a clinical education affiliate of Rutgers University, working toward a larger role in how laboratory medicine serves both patients and the clinicians who depend on it. He is an active member of ASCLS and ASCP.
Outside the lab, his love of travel and the outdoors keeps him grounded and perhaps explains why he has always felt at home wherever the work takes him.
