Shelby Hendricks, MLS (ASCP)CM

I am an ASCP certified medical laboratory scientist with 8 years of experience working in microbiology, hematology, immunohematology, and point-of-care. I graduated from Illinois College with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and then completed my laboratory education at HSHS St. John's Hospital School of Clinical Laboratory Science.

Currently, I am a resident in the Doctor of Clinical Laboratory Science program at Rutgers University completing my residency at DePaul Hospital in St. Louis, MO with a graduation date of May 2027. I have been a part of the American Society of Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS) Illinois Constituent since my introduction to the professional society during my undergraduate education. My primary passion is in lab utilization and stewardship as well as helping those outside of the lab to understand test interpretation: both healthcare professionals and the public.

Outside of the lab, I love reading fiction novels, going on walks with my husband and our Great Dane, staying active through pilates and strength training and traveling when my schedule allows it.
